Christmas Dress/ McCalls 6638
Bella’s Christmasy dress is all finished. It’s very bright and busy. She didn’t want to take it off after the photo-shoot. Can you blame her? I posted the design for this McCalls 3368 last week.
I got lazy and didn’t make the ruffled trim. (see view D below)
I used some scrap lace and white ric rac instead. Look at the movement in the skirt!
As for McCalls 6638, it was pretty simple. I didn’t find any of it tricky. The two skirt pieces are cut on bias. I had stripes so I used straight grain..it turned out fine.
Next time I use this pattern, I’ll cut a longer seam allowance for the bodice lining. I always end up a little short. I’m sure it’s due to using a different seam allowance or lazy cutting.
One tip: I made this dress in a size 7. The fit is great, I love the length. However, because of the fullness of the skirt, this dress will need to be lengthened by a few inches and/or worn with tights.
Also, did you notice her cute feathery reindeer hair bow?
