Ballerina Hair Bows & Ribbon Sculpture

Ballerina Hair Bows & Ribbon Sculpture

I wanted to share my ballerina hair bows. Sofie is taking a Mommy & Me ballet class so I tried my hand at ribbon sculpture. (The ballet slippers in the center.)

Sometimes I try to be all crafty and it works out, like when I made my nephew a sword. Other times it’s a hot stanky mess, like when I tried to make a doll bed from a cereal box.

I’ve seen better ribbon sculptures, but I thought mine turned out pretty decent. People could tell they were supposed to be slippers, so I’m counting this one as a win:)

I thought I’d make a few to put in my Etsy shop, but every bow I make belongs to Sofie. Ask her!

It’s so hard for me to make things for people I don’t know. Am I the only one who struggles with this? I like gifting little things I make to my daughter, niece, and nephews.

Also, how does one ship a hair bow? I wouldn’t want it to get squished. I’m not sure I could charge what I spend making them. Maybe you have to buy wholesale to have a bow business. I doubt I’ll ever mess with that! This is why my shop will probably always just have destash sewing items. I talk myself out of selling things!

Here’s the real reason for this post: I wanted to show you my favorite ballerina ever!  Leg-warmers, eek!

I made her bow on a barrette, so it doesn’t wobble on her head at all. I’m hoping that her studio understands that we care more about cute little weensy ballerina clothes than we do actual ballet. Because if the bow is a no, I’m pretty sure it’s a deal breaker. Ha!

Did anyone notice I put her bow on upside down?

Here’s my back up ballerina hair bow. Just in case!

Do you have a shop? Etsy selling tips are welcome. One day I’ll put some clothes or bows in there. Probably doll clothes! I keep putting it off and I don’t know why!

Awesome bow and a definite win!!! Those are the cutest ribbon sculpted ballet shoes ever! Ballet for little girls is definitely more about the outfits than the ballet itself. Sofia looks adorable; love the leg warmers

Of course this is a win! This is so cute, you are amazing with ribbons! And Sofie, so adorable as always! I might have to let my daughter take ballet classes, just to see her dressed like that :) but I can never join mommy-and-me ballet classes!!

I didn’t realize at first you made those ballet slippers out of ribbon. You are a ribbon sculpting genius. What a beautiful bow on an equally beautiful little ballerina.

I think your ribbon sculpture was a success! And tiny ballerinas -oh man. Such cuteness. I think the shipping is so hard with selling stuff. Because you think you have a reasonable price worked out for everyone- and then you need to add shipping on top.

I totally get it I keep thinking ill do an etsy store then don’t I’m always worried its not good enough. I love your bows though I have a princess who would kiss a million frogs for one of those bows. Sophie as usual steals the show.

Amy….Oh my goodness…little girls in leg warmers, and pink leotards! I can’t wait to see photos of her recital, please, please, please!

I love your hair bows, and all your thoughts about selling are things that go round and round in my head too…I really admire women that just get right down to it, and go for the business. No sure I can do that though…I enjoy seeing the delight in the eyes of the recipient too much maybe!
