Elegance & Elephants Bubble Pocket Shorts

Elegance & Elephants Bubble Pocket Shorts

Bubble Pocket shorts from Elegance & Elephants

I’m ecstatic to show you the shorts I made with the new pattern from E&E!

When Heidi asked if I wanted to test her pattern I was thrilled!

I may have actually begged her to let me test them…that’s not the point.

I had the pleasure of testing her Ruffle Top pattern earlier this year. I loved it so much, I used it as my Sewvivor entry!

There are two styles included in the Bubble Pocket Shorts pattern. I made the sailor version. Then I made another pair for Sofia. I’ll show you soon!

I learned how to make an adjustable waistband with this pattern. Guess what? With Heidi’s tutelage, it wasn’t even hard! ( I said tutelage, giggle!) I’m so mad that I didn’t know how sooner. Do you know how many pants I’ve made my daughter, niece, & nephews that could’ve used a couple extra inches?

With the elasticized pockets and cute buttons, I didn’t go too dramatic with the fabric. This pattern has so much under the hood! I used a medium weight khaki. I know these shorts will get a ton of wear, so I wanted it to match lots of things in Bella’s closet.

Bella thinks they look like something that would sell at Justice. If you don’t have an 8 year old with very selective taste- that means its fabulous.

There’s room to grow! These shorts are nice and roomy. I was worried because Bella is on the bigger end of a size 8. But she’ll be able to wear these for quite a while.

I’m definitely not a pro with PDF patterns. They look like a ton of work-but they’re really easy, even for me.

I like making cute things. I like it even more when it’s economical. I love a versatile piece of clothing that will grow with my child. If you sew your children’s clothing, this is not only a fun pattern to add to your stash, but I’d definitely call it an investment as well.

Seriously, you need this pattern.

    Amy, these are so cute. I can see them in a blue and white pattern for a sailor look. {Hey Bella, you are too cute…hope your arm gets better soon!}

I hope the craft show went well yesterday. I totally get your angst about publicly selling your wonderful crafts. I paint, and it’s the hardest thing to #1. put a monetary value on your work, and #2. market yourself effectively.

Love the buttons! I have to get to work on some shorts, but it’s still chilly hear in Pennsylvania so I have made it a priority yet.

I will take a pair of those shorts, as I love them! Maybe in a children’s size Medium?

By children’s size Medium I mean an adult size 12. :-)

She is a quilter and she did a craft show not too long ago and blogged about her set up, process, etc. Might be something you are interested in reading.
