Embroidered Denim Doll Dress

Embroidered Denim Doll Dress

I’m so flattered you came over to see my embroidered denim doll dress! When I made this dress, I was just learning how to use my new sewing machine. It has some decorative stitches, and for my ego’s sake we’re going to call it embroidery.

I’m dying for an embroidery machine now, but I’ll have to wait for the new house. Hubby is going to build me an amazing sewing room. He has plans inspired by the Apple store. The thought of it makes my toes curl! But I’m all over the place. You came to see my embroidered denim doll dress, right?

This is my second outfit for the American Girl Doll & Wardrobe Giveaway. The winner gets a brand new American Girl doll, and the muther-load of Valentine outfits and accessories that my friends and I have made. You can see them all at the Valentine Outfit & Accessory Roundup. I’m dying over the talent of this seasons designers.

My dress features pink piping at the waist. I used decorative stitches to embroiderer the hem & neckline. The dress pattern is self drafted using the same blocks as my Leopard And Lace dress.

The cardigan is made with the Trendy Slouch Cardigan pattern from 123 Mulberry Street. I also paired this cardi pattern with my Peppermint Snow outfit.

Here’s a close up of the stitches. They look like asterisks to me.

The back of the dress has a Velcro closure for easy wardrobe changes.

I’ve got more doll sewing projects coming up, & if I can ever get them photographed I’ll show you. It’s so quick and easy to sew for dolls. Plus, it’s a great way to practice features on your sewing machine! Which reminds me, I have a one step buttonhole I need to try out. Do you have features on your machine that you haven’t learned yet?

Wow! Not bad for someone who is still learning to use your first machine. Very nice. Actually, it is very very nice. I would love to try something like this. Looks so fun!

I should use the decorative stitches on my machine more. The one you’ve chosen makes such a lovely feature on the denim, especially in the pink.

This is such a cute doll dress. I love the easy velcro closure down the back of the dress. With my new little grand baby girl I’m going to need to learn how to make doll clothes and I’ll for sure be using your ideas for this one. Thanks for sharing it at our Making Monday link party.

The dress is adorable. I use the decorative stitches on my machine as well, but I wish I could have a real embroidery machine. I’ll have to hint at the hubby. Valentines Day is coming up after all.
