Faux Button Placket Dress For AG Dolls

Faux Button Placket Dress For AG Dolls

By Amy Mayen

I made this faux button placket dress out of an old western style shirt of Bella’s. I’ve really been stuck on doll clothes lately!

Doll clothes are serving multiple purposes right now. My kid has fun choosing fabric & designs for her “children”, and we get to spend time together doing something we both like. Not playing CandyLand. Oh, how I’m sick of CandyLand.

I love my Samantha’s sweet face!

Plus, every since my first knit sewing project ended up looking homemade and wretched, I’ve been pushing myself to master sewing with the almighty knit fabric. Doll clothes use mostly scraps, so I don’t have to waste any of my precious knit fabrics I’ve been hoarding. I’ve been sewing little doll T-shirts, and I finally worked with a double needle. I think for t-shirts I even prefer it over the serger.

I’ve got a Faux Button Placket Tutorial if you’d like to see how to add one to any dress pattern. Hope you like it!

Hello. I'm Amy and I'm addicted to sewing. I borderline-hoard fabric, buttons, & patterns. Sometimes I wish I could pile my fabric up on the floor and just roll in it!

My hair looks like that most days- is that bad? ;) It’s really cute, and no I haven’t sewn any doll clothes yet. I did, however, sew on a large strip of velcro to a jacket tonight- that’s progress right?

So cute Amy! Please write the tutorial! My daughter is just now getting old enough to be interested in her inherited AG dolls, and I’ve got a couple of patterns on the back burner that would be fun to play with.

Wow, your doll clothes are so amazing! They are are awesome – and what savings. The AG doll craze is really out of control. The amount of money that people spend on clothing a doll.

    Anyway, back to you.

You are amazing Amy! I just love the outfit!
