HBIC Toddler Tote
Every little chick needs an HBIC toddler tote. (Calm down. Head baby in charge.)
This baby is definitely in charge. The face says it all.
Each weekday morning, Head Baby and I trek 2 doors down to my house; where she tells me what to do for the next few hours. Much of what I was being made to do consisted of going back and forth, from my house to her house; scavenging for important things that she couldn’t be without.
(Such as one of her brothers shoes, a Popsicle, the tv remote…you get the idea.)
So when she told me she needed a bag to carry her junk in, I was happy to oblige. I used this tutorial from SewCountryChick to draft the HBIC Toddler Tote.
The outside is an owl print. I was terrified my niece would demand a piece of my vintage or designer fabric, but she had mercy on my stash. I used faux leather leftover from Bella’s witch costume to form the gusset. It gets dragged around as much as carried, and after I just wipe it clean.
The interior and strap are a heavy canvas. I wanted to encase magnet strips for easy opening and closing, but couldn’t find any as thin or as strong as I wanted. Above, you can barely see the black Velcro I ended up using.
The inside pocket is exactly the right size to hide a Pamper. (Sofie doesn’t want the whole world to know her potty training business.)
The HBIC Toddler Tote is a big win! Seeing these photos is making me wonder exactly how long our Christmas lights will stay up though…
