Ice Cream Soirée Toddler Outfit
I already showed you Sofie’s finished Patriotic Pageant Costume, but this was the test run. It’s nice to wear on a hot summer day. Which is why I named it Ice Cream Soirée. Doesn’t she look like she should have a big ice cream cone melting all over the place?!
For this outfit, I used the same fabric as Bella’s Bedsheet Dress .
Sofie’s pageant is in the end of the month. In my humble opinion, she should get the “pretty eyes” title. Look above, I don’t know if this photo captures it well, but her eyes are 2 different colors.
After she was born, and her eye color started coming in; we were terrified that she had a tumor or something. But the doctors told us she’s just one in a million. (Sorry I didn’t know how to shop’ out the nose crust and boogery face.)
Ok, back to business. Sewing. That’s what I’m supposed to be blogging about…
I used vintage McCalls 4525 for the halter, and Sage’s Ruffle Shorts from Create Kids Couture.
In case you missed the first mock-up of this outfit, I had to make a couple fit adjustments on each pattern.
I wanted the shorts to hit just above the belly button. Which is where they started (see above) but after a bit they rolled under her round tummy. (See below.)
So for the final garment, I’ve added an extra row of elastic that I hope will prevent that. Proper fit is crucial in pageants.
I’m trying to teach her a Miss America wave. They call me The Title Maker. Okay, I just call myself that. But maybe it will catch on!
