Ruffled Diaper Cover/ McCalls 6345

Ruffled Diaper Cover/ McCalls 6345

By Amy Mayen

Are you tired of rufflebutts? I can’t stop making them. This time I used McCalls 6345.

I was actually making them for a much smaller baby, size 6-9 months. I cut this pattern in a medium. They came out huge! My niece is over a year & a half…and since she fits em’, she gets em’.

Doesn’t Sofie have the fattest little leggies?! I sort of want to bite them all the time. I keep it to myself cuz moms don’t like it when you threaten to eat their kids.

So, we established that the pattern is huge. Also, it’s kind of pouchy in the front…I had to pull em’ up high so she didn’t have a front sag.

Another thing…I’m not sure I like how the ruffles just flap out. Usually the edges are encased in the side seam. It reminds me of Darth Vadors helmet. Or a mullet.

I used scraps that don’t really match but kinda coordinate. Sofie rocks these britches fer sure, but this pattern won’t go back in the rotation. This was the best fabric shot I could get you:

That’s it for my “pattern review”. It was really just an excuse to post tons of pictures of my niece. This project was featured at A Little Clairification, Crafts a la mode, and Powerful Mothering!

Ruffle butts are extremely cute! I was never into the frilly, girly stuff, buy my daughter is SO girly girl! She had lots of ruffle butt skirts, and still does (now she’s 1 and 1/2). =0)

I love the ruffle butts! I wish I had knows about these when my daughter was the age for them. Now the only babies in my life are boy babies. I just don’t think they can pull off ruffle butts.

Does any ever really get tired of ruffle butts? I don’t think so. Once my kids got to old, my sisters started having kids, and I had more butts to put ruffles on! Your niece is adorable.

You are up late!! My son loves the Heat, I am going for Memphis, but they have to beat the Spurs first. I was one of those people who wanted LeBron to stay in Cleveland and didn’t like him as much when he went to Miami. He is a phenomenal player, love to watch him play bball with all his skilz!! :)

So cute!! Love the photos; it is so hard to get a photo of kids that age as they don’t exactly just stand there for you. Next time I need to sew up some ruffle butts I won’t reach for this pattern; thanks for the heads up!! I am still in mourning over the OKC game last night :(. Hope you are having a good week!!
