Sewing Room Remodel- Update
By Amy Mayen
I see all these bloggers with fabulous sewing/crafting rooms on Pinterest.
Ugh. They make me sick.
Okay, fine. If you have a fabulous craft room, I guess I don’t hate you. (But you & I both know it doesn’t look that that in real life. Nobody is that tidy when they create.)
My sewing room remodel is still in progress. It’s taking a while because Mr. SewsNBows has to work on it when he has a day off. We own a business, so days off are rare; plus I don’t like him to work around the house on Sundays. That’s our family day.
My “sewing room” is actually a little laundry room we added on the back of the house a couple years ago. We own a small, older home and we are constantly fixing it up. (Did I mention our business is construction?)
I have a few embarrassing blog posts about our early stages of fixing my sewing room. (Embarrassing because the photo quality is awful…these actually aren’t so hot either…)
I thought it would be fun to post real live pics of my real live sewing room so you can see my recent updates.
Warning: I did not clean up for you. I didn’t photoshop the pictures. If you’re a Pinterest addict, and thinking about doing some heavy duty crafting-get those fantasies about a gorgeous, organized space out of your mind.
You will have an area of your house that looks absolutely horrible most of the time.
There’s not much out right now because I’ve been moving everything into my new cabinets!
New cabinets allow me all this extra space. I’m not going to use it as an excuse to shop. I’m not going to use it as an excuse to shop. I’m not going…oh what the heck. Why lie?
Every time I need a place for say, buttons, hubby’s solution is a toolbox. They are fabulous for keeping small stuff organized! Louis Vuitton should do toolboxes.
When we repainted Bella’s room and rehabbed some furniture, I inherited her old dresser. I love antiques!
I keep my patterns in there. I have the little garment rack out because I’m gearing up for a craft show. Normally, I keep those at the warehouse. (We call my sister in laws basement “The Warehouse”. Makes us sound legit.)
I will be able to get a ton of junk organized and stashed neatly behind closed doors.
Now that we have all the cabinets in, we’ll probably paint them next week. We’ve been looking at granite and marble for the countertops. I’m going to reupholster my chair too. And make covers for my machines. It’s going to be so fabulous! Eventually.
Even when it’s all done, I’ll battle scraps on the floor, loose threads sticking to everything, & piles of projects everywhere. I’ll clean it up real good when we finish, and have a good photo-shoot. I’ll get famous on Pinterest, and I’ll get some haters of my very own. I can’t wait!
Guess what? I’ve made my sewing room even better now:) Check out my Sewing Room Reveal!
