Stellar’s Vest | A New Pattern from Elegance & Elephants

Stellar's Vest Pattern | Sewn by Amy Mayen

Stellar’s Vest is the newest pattern from Elegance & Elephants! (*Affiliate link.) I love this classic, versatile wardrobe staple. There is an option for a pocket, and a dress version!

I used a twin needle around the v-neck, waist band, and sleeve openings. (I could tell Sofie appreciated all the precision.)

I’ve been struggling to get photos with all the snow storms. Snow is pretty, but after it’s partially melted and refrozen a few times, you end up with a muddy, gross mess.

But hubby donated his carport where he parks the trailers and some of the big machines. He raked and made it look as nice as red Oklahoma dirt can :)

I thought the mustard yellow double knit fabric I used for my vest would look great and stand out with against the other chambray button up and neutral tones in her outfit.

I wanted sort of androgynous look; because Stellar’s Vest is a great pattern for boys and girls. So my goal was to “show” the pattern really well, and get some great family photos too.

Stellar's Vest with Newsboy Cap| SewsNBows

We started with a newsboy cap. Sofie didn’t like it because her brothers told her the hat was for a boy.

So I switched the hat out for a head band, & she was a happy girl after that!

*Here’s an updated photo; almost a year later. Same shirt and vest. Crazy how they grow, right?!

Love your use of twin needle, especially around the neckline! So cute the way you styled Sofie for this photo shoot, she looks adorable in the cap, maybe you can put the flower on the cap???

This is exactly my style… is that available in mom’s sizes?
And… why I can’t use twin needles like you? I always end up in a mess, so I’m not using them at all, no more! I need to know your secrets :D

Nice Job Amy! I haven’t had the chance to use a double knit, but it looks like it lays really nice. It turned out so well for you it almost put me in the mood to find a men’s vest pattern to make for myself ; )
