Taking a Break From Pirates

Taking a Break From Pirates

I’ve been working on a fully boned & lined corset using Butterick 5662.

I’m a size 10ish. I thought it would be safe to buy the pattern sizes 6-14. But after constructing the front and back bodice, I realized it would be too small. I read the size chart, and according to , 40″ hips & a 38″ bust is a size 16. Cue the wah-wah music here.

After finishing Edson’s pirate costume pants Tuesday, and realizing they were way too small, you’d think I’d learn to pay attention. Nope, not me!

I’m running out of time. I stopped making the corset mid project. I hate unfinished projects! I’m really the type who finishes one thing before starting another. I’ll have to finish it later and save it for a show.

I’ve need to buy more fabric for Edson’s pants, and draft my own corset pattern. So what am I going to do right now?

Take a break from pirates.

I know.
I shouldn’t.
I’m on a deadline here.

But two disappointing projects in a row has left me discouraged. I don’t stay down long. I just switch to something else until I get my motivation back. (And until I get my butt to the fabric store!)

So I’m going make a simple dress, baby apron, and slippers out of scraps I need to use up. I’ll try out Simplicity 1794.

I’ll let you know how it goes. With my baby girl sick its hard to say how much work ill get done this weekend. But I’ll keep in touch!
