Top 10 Simplicity Tween Patterns | Plus Sizes Available!

Top 10 Simplicity Tween Patterns

I’m listing my top picks for Simplicity tween patterns, with help from my daughter. I’m excited that most catalogues have now listed their Early Spring Lookbooks, so I’m writing and publishing this post as quickly as possible. I’m anxious to complete my tween sewing pattern reviews before the year ends!

If you’re looking for tween patterns from the big commercial companies, you might like my picks for McCalls & KwikSew. I’ve also written a Sewing For Tweens Survival Guide. For 2014, I’m cooking up a Tween PDF master pattern list, and I can’t wait to show you!

Simplicity tween patterns have 3 size ranges; 8-14, 8-16, and plus sizes 8 1/2- 16 1/2. I’ve noted the patterns that have plus sizes available.

Simplicity 7761 Panelled a-line dress with sleeve variations & pockets

This pattern is my favorite in this roundup. The pocket construction reminds me of the Sunki dress. It would be easy to go from casual to dressy depending on fabric choice. Plus sizes available.

Simplicity 8786 High-low skirt and layered dolman tee

I see a lot of these tops in the stores. I don’t like how the tank and tee connect at the shoulders; I always thought there would be more options if I just made the two layers as separates. All I know is, they are popular!

Simplicity 2534 coat, jacket, & vest

A clean, timeless coat pattern!

Simplicity 9576 Jacket with welt pocket, knit top, & ruffled skirt

The pattern would be cute for a girly girl! Its similar to the Coco jacket. Plus sizes available.

Simplicity 8882 Layered tank dress with drawstring waist

Here’s another dress with plus sizes available.

Simplicity 1674 butterfly and off the shoulder tops

My tween likes these. (I don’t.) I am informed that this pattern should be included in the roundup, so here it is:)

Simplicity 1510 simple strappy dress with collar, hem, and length variations. Plus sizes available.

Simplicity 1894 Knit dress, tunic, top, leggings, & cropped jacket

These are all nice basics in knit.

Simplicity 1504 Children, teen, and adult pajamas

You should be able to get pajamas for everyone with this pattern!

Simplicity 1514 Child’s animal and 18″ doll hats

Here’s a cute accessory pattern worth a mention. My kid has been really into these hats for the last couple years.

I wish you all a productive, prosperous New Year!!

I totally agree that the first one’s pockets are reminiscent of sunki, but I think the style is really cute. That one is a big win for me. And no, I don’t get the whole attached “layered” look either. Too limiting.

  4. I am always 1. really impressed at how well you sew clothes and how much you make and 2. that your daughter actually wears things that you make. Looking at these patterns, it almost makes me want to sew clothes…almost :)

This is fantastic. I am loving that multicolored coat. Very nice! That would be gorgeous in some squisably soft Merino wool.
